Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 21, 2026

By creating an account or using SoftBill you agree to these terms. They are written to be short and clear rather than exhaustive.

What SoftBill is

SoftBill is an invoice generation tool. It lets you save a business profile, keep clients and services, create and share invoices, download them as PDFs, and record which invoices have been paid.

Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep your login details private.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • One account per business or person — do not share or sell access.

Your invoices are your responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy of every invoice you create, including client details, descriptions, amounts, tax rates, tax-exempt claims and your Tax ID or EIN. SoftBill does not check or verify invoices, and it is not accounting, tax or legal advice. Please make sure your invoices meet the rules that apply to you.

Payments and Stripe

When a client pays online, the payment goes directly to the Stripe account you have connected. SoftBill does not hold, move or take custody of your money. Stripe's own terms, fees and payout schedule apply to those payments, and you are responsible for being eligible for, and remaining in good standing with, a Stripe account. Payment statuses you record by hand are your own bookkeeping records.

Free and paid features

SoftBill is free to use today. If paid features are added, they will be subject to the plan you choose at the time, along with any pricing shown before you subscribe. Features may be added, changed or retired, and we will describe material changes where we can.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use SoftBill to create false, misleading or fraudulent invoices, to impersonate someone else, to send spam, or to upload harmful software.

SoftBill may warn about, limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or misuses the service.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, and can change or become unavailable. To the extent the law allows, SoftBill is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and it is not responsible for your records, your tax filings, or payments made through your own Stripe account.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as SoftBill grows. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continuing to use SoftBill after an update means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
